Name: Sarah MacDonald

Age: 33

Lives: Edinburgh

Occupation: Busy mum of two young children

Sarah’s Story:

Even though people say to me that I have a nice smile – my front teeth are straight and I have had them whitened in the past – I was actually really unhappy with my smile. This was mainly due to four gaps (two on each side) which I felt really showed when I smiled. In fact, every time I looked at a photo of myself – be it my wedding photographs or social media snaps – all I could see were these gaps. This was a throwback to when I was 14 years old, when I had four teeth removed. I was supposed to have orthodontics, but unfortunately this never happened.

For some time I had been thinking about trying to get these gaps closed over, and wondered if I might need to have braces to do this. One thing was clear: I didn’t want to have the old-fashioned “train tracks”…Ugly Betty style! This would not have fitted in with my ladies lunches and cocktails with the girls in Tiger Lily!

However, through the media and lifestyle magazines, I had heard of “invisible braces” and this had captured my imagination.

I decided to approach Vermilion – The Smile Experts, a dental clinic based in Corstorphine, not far from where I live.

My aim was to fact find and discuss whether I could obtain the smile that I had always dreamed of… the first step towards my exciting new journey!

Vermilion has been granted planning consent to create a specialist referral branch in the Scottish Borders. The proposed clinic is a new-build on the Pinnaclehill Industrial Estate in Kelso. Slated to open in summer 2017, the 250 square metre clinic will feature three fully-equipped surgeries with relaxing views of the rolling fields, a denture laboratory, local decontamination unit, cutting-edge X-ray technology, a bright and welcoming reception area and staff quarters. The site will include ample parking space for patients, assuring ease of accessibility.

The clinic will operate solely on a referral-only basis inviting complex cases from general dental practitioners based in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland.

Vermilion wishes to thank its valued referrers in the Scottish Borders who have supported these plans and provided much encouragement during the application process!
