Dr Verena Toedtling graduated from the University of Dundee in 2007 and is a specialist in oral surgery. Following graduation she moved to Edinburgh where she worked in general practice. She then carried out broad based postgraduate training in community and hospital settings across various specialties in Scotland.
During this time she obtained her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She also gained further postgraduate experiences whilst working as an oral and maxillofacial surgery senior house officer in Aberdeen before moving to Manchester to work for the University of Manchester and Central Manchester University Dental Hospital and Foundation Trust in 2012 where she began her higher surgical training in oral surgery.
Dr Toedtling completed this four year clinical and academic training programme which provided specialist training in all aspects of oral surgery with a certificate of completion of specialist training. This training period also allowed her to acquire skills in the management of patients with dental anxiety and complex treatment needs requiring multi-disciplinary care.
Alongside specialist training Dr Toedtling completed a masters in oral and maxillofacial surgery and she became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy from the University of Manchester. On completion of specialist training Dr Toedlting obtained her specialist membership in oral surgery 2015 from the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and registered as a specialist with the General Dental Council.
During this time she was also involved in the teaching and lecturing of undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as specialty trainees. She is an educational committee member of the British Academic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Member of the Manchester Medical Society and has worked with the Scottish Dental Clinical Effectiveness Programme on clinical guidelines.
Dr Toedtling’s clinical practice at Vermilion incorporates all aspects of oral surgery. In addition to this she is actively involved in dental research and places great emphasis on her professional development. She will soon complete a postgraduate certificate in Dental Public Health and is presently studying towards a Research Doctoral Degree to improve the care for patients requiring wisdom tooth surgery.
