Dr Khan graduated from Glasgow Dental School in 1986. After seven years in general practice, he pursued a full-time career in oral surgery, working in Maxillo-Facial units in Essex and Suffolk before becoming a specialist in oral surgery in 1995. He set up his oral surgery and implant referral practice in Colchester in 1996.
In 2008, Dr Khan joined the Colchester Dental Referral centre as principal oral surgeon, sedationist and implantologist and placed over 3000 implants in private practice using Ankylos and Xive implant systems.
He held posts of examiner for the Diploma in Implant Dentistry at Edinburgh Royal College of Surgeons from 2009 to 2013 and held post of examiner for MFDS at Glasgow Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Throughout his career he has trained and mentored hundreds of dentists throughout the UK in both oral surgery and advanced surgical management in implant therapy.
After moving back to Scotland, Dr Khan is based at Vermilion’s main referral Edinburgh clinic where he treats patients referred for oral surgery and dental implants.
He combines his career as a specialist in oral surgery with professional adventure sports photography and is an ambassador for Ellis Brigham mountain sports, F-stop gear camera bags and Elinchrom Ltd. His published book ‘Extreme Scotland’ is available to read in Vermilion’s Edinburgh waiting room!
