Dr Murray graduated from Glasgow University in 1984 and is a registered specialist in restorative dentistry whose practice is limited to periodontics.
Following broad based hospital training in all dental specialities she obtained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1988. Later that year she moved to The Royal London Hospital where her love of periodontology was kindled. On returning to Scotland, Dr Murray entered specialist training in restorative dentistry which she completed at Manchester Dental Hospital and School. During specialist training she obtained the Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, an MSc by research from the University of Glasgow and the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship in Restorative Dentistry. She was recognised as a specialist by the General Dental Council in 1998.
Following completion of specialist training, Dr Murray returned to Scotland where she helped to set up, and subsequently teach on, the Masters in Dental Primary Care course in Glasgow Dental School. This she combined with specialist private practice limited to periodontics while studying for her MPhil in Medical Law and Ethics.
In 2006 she moved with her family to Shanghai, China. During her stay there she worked as a specialist in a China-US joint venture clinic and taught Dental English in the Dental School of Jiaotong University.
On returning to the UK she is delighted to become involved, once again, in the treatment and support of people with periodontal disease. Dr Murray loves treating periodontal disease and helping people to save their teeth.
Dr Murray is an examiner for the Dental Faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
