Dr Fiona Crawford is a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist working with clients both at Conan Doyle Medical Centre and Vermilion.
She graduated from Edinburgh University Dental School in 1979. Following a short spell working for the community dental service she took up post as a Clinical Research Fellow in the department of oral medicine and oral pathology at Edinburgh University.
She then followed a long and varied career as a specialist in oral medicine working in the Edinburgh Dental Institute and laterally in the Glasgow Dental Hospital.
After working for 35 years for the NHS she retired from her post as consultant in oral medicine in the Glasgow Dental Hospital to concentrate more of her clinical time on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Her interest in CBT was fostered after reading that NICE guidelines recommended CBT for several conditions routinely treated in oral medicine.
Since gaining the award of a post-graduate Diploma in CBT, Dr Crawford has successfully treated clients with many different conditions and has run group sessions for teachers and other groups in the workplace setting.
Dr Crawford is also currently a member of the Fitness to Practice panel at the General Dental Council.
