Dr Mather graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2002 and is a registered specialist in oral surgery. Following graduation he moved to Edinburgh and completed three years working in a variety of community and hospital posts. He then spent six years working within the discipline of oral & maxillofacial surgery in Fife and Lothian, treating patients requiring oral surgery, as well as being involved in more extensive cases of facial trauma, infection and cancer surgery.
He is a specialty dentist and honorary clinical teacher in oral surgery at the Glasgow Dental Hospital & School where he teaches undergraduate dental students, postgraduate dental students and specialist trainees within the oral surgery department, whilst continuing to provide care for patients requiring surgery.
In 2005 Dr Mather was awarded the MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh followed by the MSurgDent (oral surgery specialist examination) at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011. In 2013 he was admitted to the oral surgery specialist list by the General Dental Council.
Dr Mather places great emphasis on patient care and professional development and strives to provide a relaxing and calm environment for patients. He can provide conscious sedation for nervous patients who may require this to help them through their surgery.
