Dr Ulhaq graduated with Honours in 2004 from University College Cork in Ireland. He gained further experience working in General Dental Practice, as well as completing training Senior House Officer posts in OMFS, Oral Surgery, and Restorative Dentistry, which allowed him to obtain Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Following this, he successfully completed his specialist training in Orthodontics in the East of England between 2011 and 2014. He completed a Masters Degree in Orthodontics at King’s College London alongside his specialist training, and gained his Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh (RCSEd).
Dr Ulhaq moved to Edinburgh in September 2014 where he undertook a further two years of training at the Edinburgh Dental Institute to become a Consultant in Orthodontics and received a Fellowship from the RCSEd. He was appointed Consultant/Honorary Senior Lecturer in Orthodontics in 2016 and is involved in the clinical treatment of complex cases, research, and training of postgraduate orthodontic students.
Dr Ulhaq is an examiner for the RCSEd and is a member of the British Orthodontic Society and the European Orthodontic Society. He has presented on orthodontic subjects both nationally and internationally. He enjoys treating children and adult orthodontic patients with aesthetic braces and promotes the use of new digitial technologies to make the patient’s journey as convenient as possible.
